Lyman, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Donald Frank Welch, age 77, of Lyman, died August 3, 2009 in Richfield, Utah.
He was born November 1, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Frank Carter and Alice Lauretta Smith Welch. He graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City.
Don serve his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Don married Phyllis Layona, August 4, 1958 in California. She died May 2, 1973. He married Nellie Chappell, October 4, 1973 in Elko, Nevada.
Don was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and everyone enjoyed his homemade mustard sauce. Don especially enjoyed golding with his friend, Rudi Pace.
He is survived by his loving wife of Lyman; children: Vicki and Steve Myers of Anchorage, Alaska; Craig and Debra Anderson of Francis, Utah; Brian and Cathy Welch of Washington City, Utah; Scott and Jana Anderson of Salt Lake City; Rodney and Lynne Anderson of Francis, Utah; Mike and Heather Welch of Lyman, Utah; 29 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Johnson of Murray, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Jack Farell and Leonard Welch; a sister, Viola Kartchner and a brother-in-law: Red Johnson.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the home of Glen and Lela Chappell, 161 East 600 South in Lyman, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department in memory of Don Welch.
At his request, Don’s remains have been cremated and burial will take place at a later date.
